I don't know how many of you check out ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com/) but it has some pretty cool tools. I came across this one that tells you how many families in the US had a particular last name in 1840, 1880 & 1920. Here is the link for the Overbey last name in 1840 http://www.ancestry.com/learn/facts/fact.aspx?&fid=7&ln=Overbey&fn=&yr=1840 Check it out with your last name.
